Withdrawn EN medication policy
In the May 2008 issue of Queensland Nursing Forum, Queensland Nursing Council announced the withdrawal of the Policy for medication administration by enrolled nurses 2005 and its four supporting information sheets.
Council's decision to withdraw the medication policy was based on the availability of a robust legislative and regulatory framework offered by the Health (Drugs and Poisons) Regulation 1996 and the Scope of practice framework for nurses and midwives 2005.
To support the withdrawal of the policy, Council has developed a position statement on The enrolled nurse and medication administration. The position statement is accessible here.
