Privacy, Right to Information and Information Privacy
The Right to Information Act 2009 and Information Privacy Act 2009 requires agencies of government such as the Queensland Nursing Council (QNC), subject to limited exceptions, to make documents it holds available to members of the community. They also enable members of the community to ensure documents QNC hold about their personal affairs are accurate, complete, up-to-date and not misleading.
For more information on how to access to documents held by QNC, or to have them amended for accuracy, click here. Or you can read the Right to Information and Information Privacy information sheet by clicking on the document link.
The Queensland Government introduced a privacy scheme in December 2000 to establish a framework for the responsible collection and handling of personal information in the Queensland public sector. Agencies such as the QNC are required to ensure the privacy principles are implemented. QNC has developed and implemented a privacy policy and plan for this purpose.
